Where the Electric Crank Desk runs two actuators, this one runs four — a quad-motor Linak system that raises and lowers a solid hardwood surface with zero flex, zero wobble, and near-silent precision. The extra pair of actuators isn’t an upgrade. It’s a different class of desk entirely: wider configurations stay stable at full standing height, the surface holds level under load, and the mechanism is engineered for decades of daily use. Hot-rolled steel base, hand-selected for grain and character. Hardwood top in your species and finish. Made entirely to order in our Phoenix shop.

ADA Compliant: The Electric Sit-Stand Desk can be configured to meet ADA compliance requirements.

Description

Four Motors. One Reason: Stability.

The Electric Crank Desk uses two Linak actuators. This desk uses four. That distinction matters most at standing height and at wider surface widths — where a two-motor base can introduce flex under load, the quad-motor system holds the surface absolutely level, corner to corner, at every position in the height range. If you’re commissioning a wider desk or you simply want the most stable sit-stand platform we build, this is it.

Whisper-Quiet Electric Height Control

Four Linak linear actuators deliver seamless height transitions from 28″ to 42″, responding to push-button controls or Bluetooth-enabled wireless command. Dual power architecture — plug-in operation with integrated battery backup — ensures cordless functionality and continuous operation during power transitions. The motorized system operates in near silence, preserving the focused environment serious work demands.

Materials & Construction

The 72″ × 36″ work surface is crafted from solid ash, sustainably sourced and hand-selected for expressive grain and inherent strength. The base is fabricated from hot-rolled American steel, hand-selected for the forge-born texture and character that emerges during the rolling process, finished to preserve the material’s authentic expression. At 400 lbs assembled, this desk commands architectural presence.

Configured to Your Work

Every Electric Sit-Stand Desk is made entirely to order. Surface dimensions, top species and finish, edge treatment, drawer configuration, and base finish are all determined at commission. Optional drawers — side and keyboard — can be added where your workflow demands them. Wiring management, including a grommet through the top and cable holders, is included as standard.

Built for Generations

Every component — from actuator assembly to hardwood joinery — reflects uncompromising American craftsmanship. This is not a commodity sit-stand desk. It is a precision-crafted workstation built to be used daily for decades and passed on.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between this desk and the Electric Crank Desk?+
The Electric Crank Desk runs two Linak actuators. This desk runs four. The quad-motor system eliminates flex at standing height — especially on wider configurations — and keeps the surface perfectly level under load at every position. It’s the more stable, more capable platform, and the right choice for wider commissions or anyone who wants the best sit-stand we build.
Is this desk suitable for daily use?+
Yes. Both the top and base are finished with a restaurant-grade sealer built for all-day, everyday use. The steel base is engineered to industrial tolerances, a grade above both commercial and residential furniture. These aren’t display pieces — they’re built for the factory floor, refined for the room.
What wood species are available?+
Standard species are walnut, oak, mahogany, and cherry. All tops are solid, premium, sustainably sourced hardwood, hand-selected for figure and grain. Other species are available on request and finalized during your commission conversation.
What steel finish options are available?+
Natural patina is shown as standard. Black patina and painted finishes are available and finalized during the commission process.
Can I specify the size?+
Yes — length, width, and height range are all adjustable to your space and ergonomic requirements. Dimensions are finalized during your commission conversation.
Can I add grommets, data ports, or power access?+
Yes. Cable grommets, data ports, and power access points can be built directly into the top. We’re also happy to work with your AV or IT team during the commission process to make sure everything is spec’d correctly before we build.
What edge profiles are available for the top?+
Live edge, straight, beveled, and other profiles are available depending on the model. Edge style is selected during your commission conversation.
How does the desk ship?+
The Electric Sit-Stand Desk ships fully assembled via freight. If neither a loading dock nor forklift is available at delivery, let us know during your commission and we’ll arrange the right solution.
What is the lead time?+
Lead times are typically 12 weeks or more from deposit, depending on configuration. Your specific timeline is confirmed at the start of your commission.
How is it delivered?+
Standard delivery is freight curbside. White glove service — inside placement, unpacking, and full assembly — is available; delivery method is confirmed during your commission conversation.
I’ve seen something that looks exactly like this on another site. Is it the same piece?+
No. Vintage Industrial designs have been copied extensively since 2009, primarily by Asian manufacturers selling through direct-from-China storefronts. The pieces look similar in photos but weigh a quarter of what ours do — they’re not designed to last, they’re designed to sell at a cheap price. Vintage Industrial sells direct only, through retro.net. We have no other sales channels, no third-party retailers, no Amazon storefront. If you’re seeing something like this anywhere else, it’s a counterfeit. Every Vintage Industrial piece is built to order in our Chicago shop by hand, from hot-rolled steel and solid hardwood, with a 12+ week lead time.

What others are saying

  1. Much better than my first sit stand desk

    Phil

I bought an desk from Costco that I thought was premium, but it was pretty wobbly. Then I found this desk on Google. This thing is rock solid at any height, and I have 3 monitors and my PC on top. Love the steel finish, looks like a vintage piece, gets lots of comments, people think it’s an antique.
