Description

The Warm Warehouse Wall System is the flagship expression of the Warm Warehouse aesthetic — the design language Vintage Industrial originated, defined by the combination of raw industrial steel and the warmth of solid hardwood in architectural-scale pieces. This is not a shelf. It is the anchor of a room.

Unlike the Boxcar Ellis family, the Warm Warehouse Wall System is floor-standing — no casters, no toe kick. It sits directly on the floor with the permanence of a true built-in, while remaining fully freestanding and reconfigurable. A hand-formed steel toe-kick runs the base of the unit — no casters, no feet, just a clean architectural base that reads as part of the floor. The defining visual detail is the hand-formed arched steel dividers between shelf sections — borrowed from Vintage Industrial’s 42″ desk line, where they first appeared as a structural and decorative element. Here they are scaled up to wall unit proportions, giving the piece its architectural character and separating it from every other industrial storage piece on the market.

Upper sections combine open shelving with mesh and glass cabinet doors, all illuminated by integrated LED strip lighting along the shelf backs. The lower section configures to your spec: mesh cabinet doors, solid panel drawers or an integrated bar refrigerator section. Every component is hot-rolled steel — hand-formed, hand-finished, assembled by hand in Phoenix, Arizona.

This piece has been specified for law firm libraries, executive home offices, and high-end residential studies. It is the physical definition of the Warm Warehouse aesthetic — the room starts here.

Vintage Industrial has been building in the Warm Warehouse aesthetic since 2009 — long before it had a name.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this different from the Boxcar Ellis Wall Unit?+
The Warm Warehouse Wall System is floor-standing with no casters — it sits with the permanence of a built-in. It also features hand-formed arched steel shelf dividers, a signature architectural detail not found on the Boxcar Ellis line. The overall proportion is taller and more hutch-like, referencing traditional library cabinetry translated into industrial steel.
Can a bar refrigerator be integrated?+
Yes. A bar refrigerator section can be built into the lower cabinet run. The refrigerator opening is sized to your unit during commission — bring your preferred appliance dimensions and we will engineer the opening accordingly.
I’ve seen something that looks exactly like this on another site. Is it the same piece?+
No. Vintage Industrial designs have been copied extensively since 2009, primarily by Asian manufacturers selling through direct-from-China storefronts. The pieces look similar in photos but weigh a quarter of what ours do — they’re not designed to last, they’re designed to sell at a cheap price. Vintage Industrial sells direct only, through retro.net. We have no other sales channels, no third-party retailers, no Amazon storefront. If you’re seeing something like this anywhere else, it’s a counterfeit. Every Vintage Industrial piece is built to order in our Chicago shop by hand, from hot-rolled steel and solid hardwood, with a 12+ week lead time.
