A Legacy of American Craftsmanship

Command the Room. Own Your Legacy.

The Chairman Desk is more than a workspace—it is a monument to your professional journey. Originally designed in 2013 by Greg Hankerson of Vintage Industrial, this piece was envisioned as the ultimate fusion of traditional executive authority and rugged industrial character. It is a desk designed for those who value the weight of history and the strength of modern industry.

Heritage Design, American Made

Proudly American made, the Chairman Desk is built with an obsession for detail and a commitment to longevity. Unlike the fleeting trends of modern office furniture, this desk is a heavy-duty investment, weighing between 400 and 550 lbs. It is a solid, unyielding foundation for your most ambitious projects, handcrafted by domestic artisans who understand that true quality has no shortcuts.

Sophistication in Every Grain

Across our collection, the Chairman Desk is showcased in a variety of premium wood species, each offering a distinct personality to suit your aesthetic. Whether you are drawn to the deep, classic tones of Mahogany, the rich and iconic swirl of Walnut, the warm traditional glow of Cherry, or the timeless, sturdy grain of Oak, this desk is built to highlight the natural beauty of the timber.

  • The Top: A massive 1.5″ thick solid hardwood top provides a substantial, tactile surface.

  • The Sides: Elegant veneer paneling is framed by a signature industrial aesthetic.

  • The Hardware: A striking 160 bolts are used to hand-attach the side panels, serving as a visual reminder of the desk’s structural integrity and “built-to-last” philosophy.

Engineered for the Modern Executive

While its style is rooted in tradition, its functionality is designed for today’s high-performance workflow.

  • Storage & Organization: The standard configuration features 5 drawers, including two dedicated side drawers and two deep filing drawers to keep your workspace clutter-free.

  • Bespoke Configurations: Available in nearly any finish or layout, including an optional center keyboard or pencil drawer.

  • Smart Integration: Keep your tech streamlined with an optional grommet hole and matching cap for clean, hidden wiring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this suitable for daily use?+
Yes. The top and base are finished with a restaurant-grade sealer built for all-day, everyday use. The steel base is engineered to industrial tolerances, a grade above both commercial and residential furniture. These aren’t display pieces — they’re built for the factory floor, refined for the room.
What wood species are available?+
Standard species are walnut, oak, mahogany, and cherry. All tops are solid, premium, sustainably sourced hardwood, hand-selected for figure and grain. Other species are available on request and finalized during your commission conversation.
What steel finish options are available?+
Natural patina is shown as standard. Black patina and painted finishes are available and finalized during the commission process.
Can I specify the desk size?+
Yes — length, depth, and height are all adjustable to your space and workflow. Dimensions are finalized during your commission conversation.
What edge profiles are available?+
Live edge, straight, beveled, and other profiles are available depending on the model. Edge style is selected during your commission conversation.
Can I add cable management, grommets, or drawers?+
Yes. Cable management channels, grommets, and drawer units can all be incorporated. Configuration is finalized during your commission conversation.
Is a return or L-configuration available?+
Yes — L-shapes, returns, and corner configurations are available on most models. Layout is discussed and finalized during your commission.
What is the lead time?+
Lead times are typically 12 weeks or more from deposit, depending on configuration. Your specific timeline is confirmed at the start of your commission.
How is it delivered?+
Standard delivery is freight curbside. White glove service — inside placement, unpacking, and full assembly — is available; delivery method is confirmed during your commission conversation.
I’ve seen something that looks exactly like this on another site. Is it the same piece?+
No. Vintage Industrial designs have been copied extensively since 2009, primarily by Asian manufacturers selling through direct-from-China storefronts. The pieces look similar in photos but weigh a quarter of what ours do — they’re not designed to last, they’re designed to sell at a cheap price. Vintage Industrial sells direct only, through retro.net. We have no other sales channels, no third-party retailers, no Amazon storefront. If you’re seeing something like this anywhere else, it’s a counterfeit. Every Vintage Industrial piece is built to order in our Chicago shop by hand, from hot-rolled steel and solid hardwood, with a 12+ week lead time.
