I needed a better desk for my keyboard. I’ve been wanting to get back into music for some time now. Actually that some time has been over twenty years. Just haven’t felt inspired to do so. Well after some research I have a Native Instruments S61 MK2 midi keyboard on the way which will replace my dusty Yamaha. After some research and thought, I realized our Hure base would work perfectly as a start. I drew this concept up a couple days ago and plan on making starting on the build immediately. The keyboard tray slides out when your ready to play, and back in for protection. I added 5 holes in the back allowing various wiring configurations. And chose our natural steel for the supports and reclaimed boxcar oak in a dark finish for the wood.
The nice thing about the Hure base is that it’ll adjust around 4 inches up or down so I can set the height for me. And the tube underneath is perfect to prop my feet on and recline from time to time. The goal for me is to watch less TV and to play & record more music. This keyboard is a break through with the way they set it up, which should help. Typically you have to go from keyboard to the computer constantly to setup sounds and record. But the S61 has 2 color screens which allow most of that to happen without interfacing with the computer. This greatly speeds up recording music allowing more free flow of creativity! I don’t need anything blocking me. So with the new equipment, and an ergonomic desk I love, this should inspire me.
Next I want to make a fully adjustable height setup that could go from sitting to standing height. I can imagine that people that do this as a job could LOVE having the option to stand. I know I love my standing desk at work!
