We built this custom adjustable height Crank Desk for a client that was tight on space. The 5′ x 3′ solid mahogany top has our optional top mount metal trim which serves two purposes, to protect the wood edge from impacts, and to visually tie the base into the top. The bolted corners provide extra measures as the corners are hit the most.
This desk has two 3 ton mechanisms which allow it to adjust in height from 30″ to 42″ (the height can be customized too), or sitting to standing height. This makes it very versatile while adding an extra layer of comfort. The designer spends a lot of time at his desk and having the ability to adjust the keyboard height some, or to stand while working, makes all the difference on a long work day. Turning the 10″ chrome crank wheel adjusts it up and down. The smaller red crank handles and extension tubes are added to stabilize the top once the height is set. We spent a lot of time engineering and testing this design over the last 7 years, making sure it’ll hold up to any abuse thrown at it. The height mechanisms are built to be used 24/7 in industrial machinery, so rest assured that this desk is built to last several centuries.
We’ve also engineered the base to adjust to uneven floors which we’ve found most people have. Have you ever tried to work or eat at a table that rocks? There’s a couple reasons they do that, one is the feet or base is not flat on the floor. Leveling feet can remedy that, but in our opinion, they would not fit this design. The second reason is the base racks, or wobbles because it’s weak and / or poorly designed.
As with almost all our designs, they are made to order and from scratch, and can be customized to suit YOUR needs. Our team thinks of furniture as something to love, inspire, and enjoy. It should do it’s job, not complain, look great doing it, and appreciate over time, instead of depreciating to nothing and being tossed into a landfill. Can you make one with lighter steel, No two 3 ton mechanisms want the cranks but dont want them functional 30″ height, 5′ x 30″
