Here’s another example of a custom piece we built to meet a client’s unique needs. We took our scaled down Hure and built the base out of stainless steel and with brass accents. Our client was looking for a small kitchen island with a butcher block top, that could adjust in height. They had a cabin with a nautical theme with many pieces being shiny steel and brass. We opted to use 3″ brass nuts on the sides of the bases for accents, and polished the rest of the stainless to a mirror finish. The design required 2 telescoping side tubes which keep the top rock solid, so it does not wobble.
To top it off we added a thick Boos butcher block top made from end grain walnut. We put a lot of thought and engineering into this piece, and it should last for centuries with minimal upkeep. The 5 ton screw mechanisms will more than handle any weight put on the top, and are industrial quality. Simply crank the wheel and the top will rise up or go down.
