Conference Table Size Guide — 8 to 14 Feet

Choosing the right conference table comes down to one question: how many people need to sit comfortably without crowding the room or leaving the table feeling half-empty? Each size below is shown on the VI Beam Conference Table with a solid walnut top — one of our most commissioned configurations — so you can see exactly how each length lives in a real boardroom setting.

Plan for one foot of table length per person. If your room allows, go two to three feet longer — the difference between a 12-foot table for 10 people and a 10-foot table for 10 people is the difference between a productive meeting and an uncomfortable one.

How Much Clearance Do You Need?

Allow four feet of clearance on every side of the table — enough for chairs to push back fully, for people to walk behind seated guests, and for the piece to breathe in the room.

8-foot table

8-Foot Table — Seats 6 comfortably, 8 maximum

Min room size: 16′ × 12′  ·  Layout: 3+3+1+1

The focused meeting room. Three per side with full elbow room, one at each end. Ideal for core leadership teams and client presentation rooms that need presence without scale.

Best for: Executive suites, partner offices, small boardrooms

10-foot table

10-Foot Table — Seats 8 comfortably, 10 maximum

Min room size: 18′ × 12′  ·  Layout: 4+4+1+1

The executive standard. Four per side with room to work, one at each end. Fits mid-size boardrooms without overwhelming the space — the right size for a leadership team that means business.

Best for: Executive boardrooms, law firm conference rooms, agency leadership rooms

12-foot table

12-Foot Table — Seats 10 comfortably, 12 maximum

Min room size: 20′ × 12′  ·  Layout: 5+5+1+1

The most commonly commissioned size in the lineup. Five per side, one at each end — enough room to open a laptop, spread notes, and engage across the table without competing for space.

Best for: Department boardrooms, law firm main conference rooms, corporate headquarters

14-foot table

14-Foot Table — Seats 12 comfortably, 14 maximum

Min room size: 22′ × 12′  ·  Layout: 6+6+1+1

At 14 feet the table becomes a statement. The hand-selected walnut grain and welded steel base start commanding the room rather than simply occupying it. This is the size where clients notice the piece before they sit down.

Best for: C-suite boardrooms, full leadership teams, flagship client rooms, tech headquarters

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make conference tables longer than 14 feet?+
