Description
The Bronx Crank Desk begins with the same flagship mechanism that defines the Bronx line — two 5-ton rated screw mechanisms, operated by a pair of 12″ cast iron crank handles that work independently. Either raises or lowers the entire surface without effort. The engineering is fully mechanical: no motors, no electricity, no software updates. Just precision steel doing what it was made to do.
The base is fabricated from hot-rolled steel, hand-selected for grain and character, with over 200 rivets and bolts that are structural, not decorative. Top options include solid, premium, sustainably sourced hardwood — hand-selected for figure and grain — or a plate steel top, both with steel trim and bolted corners. Drawers can be integrated into the commission. Finishes include Natural Steel, Blackened Patina, Aged Red, and custom colors; all finalized during your commission conversation.
All hardwood tops include a breadboard end on both sides to prevent seasonal movement — a joinery detail that distinguishes furniture built to last from furniture built to sell. Visit the Bronx Gallery to see commissioned configurations. Complete the workspace with the Vintage Industrial casegoods collection — storage built to the same steel standard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this suitable for daily use?+
Yes. The steel base is engineered to industrial tolerances, a grade above both commercial and residential furniture. Restaurant-grade sealer finishes every top for all-day, everyday use. These aren’t display pieces — they’re built for the factory floor, refined for the office.
What wood species are available?+
Standard species are walnut, oak, mahogany, and cherry. All tops are solid, premium, sustainably sourced hardwood, hand-selected for figure and grain. Other species are available on request and finalized during your commission conversation.
What steel finish options are available?+
Natural Steel and Blackened Patina are shown as standard. Aged Red and custom colors are available, all finalized during the commission process.
Can I specify the desk size?+
Yes — length, width, height range, and drawer configuration are all adjustable. A fixed-height version is also available. Everything is finalized during your commission conversation.
How does the crank mechanism work?+
Two 5-ton rated screw mechanisms raise and lower the surface via two 12″ cast iron crank handles. No electricity required — fully mechanical, built to last, and field-serviceable.
Can I add grommets or power access?+
Yes. Cable grommets and power access points can be built into the top. Configuration is finalized during your commission conversation.
What is the lead time?+
Lead times are typically 12 weeks or more from deposit, depending on configuration. Your specific timeline is confirmed at the start of your commission.
How is it delivered?+
Standard delivery is freight curbside. White glove service — inside placement, unpacking, and full assembly — is available; delivery method is confirmed during your commission conversation.
